Heat treating the stones improves the color and removes or deminishes many of the impurities, including the silk. Such treatments are considered to be acceptable and do not diminish the value of the stones.

Rubies, once treated and polished, are fiery and intense in their color. They are brilliant, and, although they are darker than many other gemstones, and therefore may not stand out in the same way, they have a sense of mystery and passion that is intriguing in its beauty.
